Alzheimer's Disease Education

The Ohio Department of Aging offers these links to Alzheimer's disease and dementia care training materials for area agency on aging staff, licensed physicians, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, administrators of health care programs, social workers and other health care and social service personnel who participate or assist in the care or treatment of persons who have Alzheimer's disease or other dementias.

Alzheimer's Disease Education and Referral Center (ADEAR)

The ADEAR Center is a service of the National Institute on Aging (NIA), one of the Federal Government's National Institutes of Health and part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The NIA conducts and supports research about health issues for older adults and is the primary Federal agency for Alzheimer's disease research.

Dementia Trainings

CARES Dementia Certification recognizes and tests a user’s dementia understanding and dementia care. CARES  can include certification/credentialing recognized by CMS

Dementia Friends is a global movement that is changing the way people think, act, and talk about dementia. The Dementia Friends curriculum raises awareness and understanding of dementia and challenges the stigma and negative messaging of dementia. Sessions also provides effective communication and engagement tips and help inform others of helpful dementia resources. Visit Dementia Friends Ohio for more information.

Library Services - The Alzheimer’s Association Green-Field Library is the nation's largest library and resource center devoted to increasing knowledge about the clinical, scientific and social aspects of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.

Recognized Dementia Care Training Programs - This is a list of dementia care training programs have been recognized by the Alzheimer’s Association as reflecting the five topic areas of the Dementia Care Practice Recommendations.
