Ohio Governor’s Nursing Home Quality and Accountability Task Force

The Ohio Governor’s Nursing Home Quality and Accountability Task Force is a group of leading experts in aging, long-term care, and other disciplines – as well as long-term care consumers and advocates themselves – appointed by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine to study issues surrounding quality of life and quality of care, with a goal of making excellence the expectation for all of Ohio’s 960+ nursing homes.
The Task Force is chaired by Ursel J. McElroy, Director of the Ohio Department of Aging. You can view the full list of Task Force members below.
Governor DeWine has directed this group to work on an expedited timeline. As such, the Task Force will travel to communities across the state between now and May to hear directly from nursing home residents and their loved ones about their experiences and issue a report of their findings. In addition, the Task Force will hold regular meetings to discuss public input and formulate recommendations on how to improve quality of care and quality of life in all Ohio nursing homes. Event times, dates, and locations are listed below.
Ohioans who are not able to attend these in-person events, but who would still like to make their voice heard, will be able to provide their insights online. Check back on this webpage soon for more information.
Virtual Listening Sessions
To ensure that all Ohio nursing home residents, family members, and interested community members have an opportunity to share their experiences about the quality of nursing facilities across the state, AARP Ohio will host town hall-style events via live phone calls, allowing all Ohioans statewide to make their voices heard.
