This year, the EXPO featured health screenings to help visitors of all ages identify healthy choices they can make throughout their lifespans to ensure they live a healthier, more active life at age 60 and beyond. Services include computerized balance screening, falls risk assessments, vision screening, kidney health assessments, blood pressure screenings, long-term care consumer advice, medication safety education, nutrition demonstrations, home adaptations, diabetes education, and driver safety resources. Department of Aging ambassadors Emilia and Ebony welcomed visitors. Ohio Department of Aging Staff show their appreciation to Governor and First Lady DeWine for visiting the Well Beyond 60! EXPO. A few of our satisfied customers with their collections of information and resources. Governor and First Lady DeWine learned about consumer advocacy from the Office of the State Long-Term Care Ombudsman. The Central Ohio Diabetes Association helped visitors understand proper portion sizes. The Ohio Department of Commerce offered tips on smart investing. The Ohio Association of Area Agencies on Aging used technology to demonstrate the importance of proper hand washing. The Ohio Department of Transportation and AARP joined us to help older adults be safer drivers. Prevent Blindness offered free vision screenings. The National Kidney Foundation helped visitors understand food storage safety. Staff from Colerain Township Department of Fire and EMS provided blood pressure checks and falls risk assessments. Staff from the Ohio Emergency Management Agency provided resources to be prepared for natural disasters and other emergencies. Assistive Technology Ohio showcased devices that can help people with disabilities remain as independent as possible. Staff from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs offered blood pressure checks to visitors, including our director, Ursel McElroy. Director McElroy learns about safe medication disposal from Ohio Rx Disposal. Visitors learned about Medicare fraud from ProSeniors. Even the State Fair Mascot, Butters D. Cow, got in on the free health and wellness information and services. We presented Smokey Bear with a 75th birthday card signed by visitors to the Well Beyond 60! EXPO. 2019 Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame inductee Larry Hunter was honored as the Senior Day parade grand marshal.
