Promoting Senior Health and Wellness at the Ohio State Fair Bookmark

On Tuesday, July 30, the Ohio Department of Aging and the Ohio State Fair partnered to host the fifth annual Well Beyond 60! EXPO. Held on Senior Day at the fair, the expo an interactive health and wellness fair that features nearly 3,000 square feet of health screenings, wellness demonstrations, and more provided at no cost by state and community partners.

The Ohio Department of Aging inducted 12 outstanding older Ohioans into the Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame today during a special ceremony at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus. Members of the Ohio General Assembly, Governor Mike DeWine and his cabinet, and leaders from Ohio’s aging network were on hand to congratulate and thank the inductees for their lifelong contributions to their communities, their professions, and their vocations.

Ohio Department of Aging Recognizes Employees For Their Service Bookmark

Each year the Ohio Department of Aging recognizes employees who have reached milestones in their careers of public service. On May 1, Department of Aging Director Ursel J. McElroy presented each employee with a certificate and a pin to mark the occasion. During the ceremony, Director McElroy was also recognized for her 25 years of public service. Each of these dedicated public servants takes pride in what they do to deliver practical, person-centered strategies and services that strengthen and support Ohio’s older adults and their communities.
