Older Americans Month

WHEREAS, Older Americans Month is observed nationally each May to celebrate the accomplishments of our older citizens and to express our gratitude for the contributions they have made, and continue to make, to our communities; and

WHEREAS, the 2011 theme for Older Americans Month in Ohio is "Older Ohioans - Connecting Communities;" and

WHEREAS, [Your city or geographic area] is home to [population number] older adults; and

WHEREAS, elders in [Your city or geographic area] and around the state play a vital role in weaving a unique and lasting community fabric; and

WHEREAS, our elders are living longer, healthier and more active lives than ever; and

WHEREAS, our elders want to remain in their communities, connected to their friends and family, as long as possible;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, [SIGNER'S NAME], [Title] of [Organization], proclaim

Older Americans Month

and join the Governor of Ohio and the state's aging network in thanking our senior citizens for reinventing themselves and reinventing aging.

On this first day of May, 2011;

Senior Citizens Day

WHEREAS, elders in [Your city or geographic area] and around the state play a vital role in weaving a unique and lasting community fabric; and

WHEREAS, our elders want to remain in their communities, connected to their friends and family, as long as possible; and

WHEREAS, each May is celebrated nationwide as Older Americans Month, and

WHEREAS, the 2011 theme for Older Americans Month in Ohio is "Older Ohioans - Connecting Communities;" and

WHEREAS, Ohio sets aside a special day within Older Americans Month each year to celebrate seniors;
