What is Double Jeopardy?

The Double Jeopardy project was funded by two grants that the U.S. Administration on Developmental Disabilities awarded to the Ohio Department of Aging in 1999 and 2001. The purpose of Ohio's project was to support family members in planning for a secure future for their sons and daughters or other loved ones who have mental retardation and developmental disabilities. The Ohio Department of Aging collaborated with the Ohio Department of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities and the Ohio Developmental Disabilities Council on the project. A major project focus was the development of the curriculum and conducting the training.

What does the curriculum cover?

The curriculum includes sections on four content areas, each designed for a two-hour session, plus a section on how to use the curriculum. The content is appropriate for family members, agency staff and other professionals. The curriculum includes the basic information on life planning and cross-system collaboration necessary to start addressing future planning. The trainer can supplement the curriculum with other materials.
