State of Ohio
Executive Department - Office of the Governor

IN RECOGNITION OF ADULT DAY SERVICES WEEK

Adult Day Service centers in Ohio enable functionally and cognitively impaired adults to receive needed care and services in a community setting.

These centers provide a coordinated program of services, including restorative and functional maintenance, rehabilitation, skilled and preventive care and individual and group activities.

Adult day service centers offer participants an opportunity for enriching educational, therapeutic and social experiences outside the home, while providing much-needed assistance and counseling for caregivers and loved ones.

The centers also keep elders and people with disabilities at home in familiar environments, while allowing working caregivers to maintain employment, reassured that their loved ones are being cared for in a safe, supportive and therapeutic environment.

FOR ALL OF THESE REASONS, I, TED STRICKLAND, Governor of the State of Ohio, proclaim the week of September 16-22, 2007 as Adult Day Services Week in Ohio. I urge all Ohio citizens to honor and celebrate this special event.

On this 13th day of September, 2007;

Ted Strickland
Governor
