Other Opportunities for Lifelong Learning

In addition to free college courses and Lifelong Learning Institutes at colleges and universities, national, state, community and other organizations provide diverse opportunities for older Ohioans to engage in lifelong learning.

Elderhostel - This national, not-for-profit organization serves adults age 55 and older and provides in-depth and behind-the-scenes learning experiences for almost every interest and ability. Topic areas include history, culture, nature, music, outdoor activities, individual skills, crafts, study cruises and more.
Senior Centers - Approximately 400 senior centers and multipurpose senior centers in Ohio provide educational courses and programs on topics including arts, crafts, exercise, computer skills and more. Programs vary by location. Contact your area center to learn what is available.
OASIS - This national lifelong learning program is available in Akron and Cleveland and offers challenging programs in the arts, humanities, wellness, technology and volunteer service. OASIS creates opportunities for older adults to continue their personal growth and provide meaningful service to the community.

Other potential sources of lifelong learning opportunities include Ohio State Parks, county and municipal parks and recreation programs, local health provider organizations, local high schools and career centers and joint vocational schools and more.
