Home & Community Supports

Most older people remain independent their entire lives, but others find themselves needing some help with activities we once took for granted, such as fixing meals and traveling to appointments. We may also find that our homes need some modification to meet our changing needs.

Meals & Food - Community nutrition programs leverage federal funding with money from local senior services levies, donations and volunteers to provide nutritious meals and produce to older Ohioans.

Transportation - Transportation service is provided to Ohioans 60 and older who are unable to drive or otherwise in need of transportation. Rides are usually given to and from services necessary for maintaining independent living, such as medical appointments, nutrition (meal sites), adult day care and public benefits assistance.

Housing & Home Repair - The Department of Aging and the aging network help low-income older Ohioans preserve existing property values and make structural modifications or repairs necessary to help them live safely.

Emergency Preparedness - The Department of Aging is a proud member of the Ohio Committee for Severe Weather Awareness. We provide information for older citizens and the family members and professionals who care for them to prepare for severe weather, natural disasters and other emergencies.

ConnectMeOhio.org - This accessible web site helps Ohio consumers, caregivers and providers find up-to-date information about programs and services pertaining to aging and disabilities, no matter how old they are or where they live.

Aging & Disability Resource Network - The Department of Aging is working with aging network partners in the Cleveland area to develop the first Aging & Disability Resource Network in the state. This network will create a seamless service experience for older Ohioans and people with disabilties, who will will access the network via phone, Internet or in person.
