One key to health as we age is to remain active, both physically and mentally. The aging network provides many opportunities to work, learn, play and volunteer.
Employment & Training - Many older Ohioans are choosing to remain in or return to the workforce beyond retirement age. The Department of Aging and the aging network proudly supports older workers.
Health & Wellness - The aging network's approach to healthy aging is three-pronged. One focus is to provide information on and promotion of disease prevention. The second focus is to promote good nutrition. Finally, the network strives to provide opportunities and incentives for older Ohioans to remain physically active and healthy.
Lifelong Learning - Studies have shown that mental stimulation is crucial to physical and psychological well-being. The aging network promotes several national, state and regional programs that help older Ohioans continue learning in unique and rewarding ways.
Senior Centers - Senior centers serve as community focal points where older adults come together for services and activities that reflect their experience and skills. Centers also provide information on aging and support for family caregivers, training professionals, community leaders, students and more.
Volunteer Opportunities - Each year, older Ohioans give more than 350,000 hours of their time to help people of all ages. The Department of Aging, along with national, state and local partners, provide several unique opportunities for older Ohioans to volunteer.
