The Aging Network

Comprised of the Department of Aging, Area Agencies on Aging, the Ohio Advisory Council for Aging, county and local agencies on aging, senior centers, senior service provider agencies, universities and others, the aging network works together to improve quality of life for our older citizens.

Advisory Council for Aging - This body, comprised of appointees of the Governor, legislators and other state agencies, reviews plans, budgets and issues that affect older Ohioans and advocates specific administrative and legislative actions.

Area Agencies on Aging - These twelve regional agencies make up the backbone of aging services delivery in Ohio, each one planning services and supports for a unique geographic area.

Regional Long-term Care Ombudsman Programs - Twelve Regional Long-term Care Ombudsmen safeguard consumers of care services in their areas, advocating for quality care, investigating complaints and giving them a voice.

PASSPORT Administrative Agencies - Thirteen agencies across the state administer and coordinate home and community-based services through the PASSPORT program.

Senior Centers - More than 450 senior centers offer people age 60 and older a place to go for nutritious meals, social activities, volunteer opportunities, health screenings, health and consumer education, creative arts, exercise and more.

County and Local Offices on Aging - Many counties and municipalities have their own offices on aging to support and enhance the efforts of the state and regional offices.

Partner Agencies - Several state and federal agencies support the mission of the Department of Aging by providing specialized services, programs and information for older Ohioans.

Service Providers - Thousands of organizations and individuals throughout the state provide direct services to older Ohioans through Department of Aging or Area Agency on Aging providers.

Other Partners - The aging network is as diverse and dynamic as the older population. Services, support and advocacy for older Ohioans can come from virtually anywhere - from academic institutions to advocacy groups and beyond.
